I Know, I know.....

I need to stop organizing and start crafting. Check out these shelves I just put up to store some of my embellishments. They are cubes ...you can put pictures in them. I changed all the pictures to black and white so they would flow better! I got these at Big Lots! I just feel better and more creative when I am organized and can see all my embellishments! I love these cubes! I'm thinking of getting more and use them as book ends!

Magazine Storage

I can't help it! I LOVE to organize. My husband thinks I like to organize more than I like to work on my paper projects. There is just something about about a neat, organized, and LABELED space! haha. I wanted to take my magazine of my bookcase (it was starting to look too cluttered with 4 subscriptions of magazine coming to me. So, I decided to put them into a filing cabinet, but I did not want them to start bending and curling. I tore apart regular hanging folders and used the metal rod to put inside each of the magazine. Then I separated the magazines titles and by months.
I also started spray painting my while plastic shelves brown to match the rest of my room. My goal is to get my room Chocolate Brown, Bashful Blue (SU! color) and white accents. I used that Krylon Fusion paint for plastic.

New Ribbon Storage Idea

Many of you know that I am a HUGE ribbon addict! I love to use ribbon on my projects. I'm always looking for new ways to store my ribbon. My favorite is using the ClosetMaid shelves seen on this post. But I don't have anymore room to put this racks on my wall ....so I purchased one of triple level hanging fruit baskets. I put them my "plain" colored ribbon in the basket.

Paper and Embellishment Storage

Here is a picture of my new paper and embellishment storage. The embellishment storage is from Making Memories. I got it at Michaels with my 40% off coupon. The paper storage is from ABC Distributing. It took awhile to put all these together! But I love them. Now I keep my StampinUp! 12x12, 8-1/2x11, and scraps all together. It definitely helps me conserve my paper. Now it is SUPER easy to look for small scraps of a certain color instead looking through plastic ziploc bags.

My Craft Desk

I promised pictures of my desk that my AWESOME dad made me! I love it! It has a built-in shelf that holds all my white drawers (I got these from Michaels). The best thing about this desk is the pull out drawer! My layouts stay on this ledge and I stamp glue and work on the actual desk above. No more accidental glue marks on my layouts! And it is perfect when my two little ones wake up from a nap and I'm not finished with a layout. I just push it in away from sticky fingers.

My dad is working on a sewing table for my mom too. Check out her blog to view her table. http://susansews.blogspot.com/search/label/Sewing%20Table

I think my dad should retire and start making craft tables and ribbon holders! He made me this ribbon holder on the right at this post

Standing or Sitting?

How do you prefer to scrapbook? My Dad made me an AWESOME table ( I can't take a picture of it yet) I have WAY too much of a mess on it. But lately I've been standing up scrapbooking (I guess I get tired of getting up and down to get stuff. I change my mind alot when I create a page. Plus, I like looking at the layout from higher up. I seem to get a better feel about it. I'm thinking about raising the table, but I don't want to do it then be sorry. Just wondering how others scrapbook.

Stamps / Magazine Storage

To hold my Scrapbooking and Stamping magazines I have colorful magazine holders from abcdistributing. I really don't have a creative way to store my stamps like some people have a dot system or organized by themes. I have mine stacked by size of storage box and the names of the stamp set is on facing out. It works for me! However, sadly, a bunch of these stamp sets are about to be retired this year!! I lost a bunch of stamp sets this time. Click here to view Stampin'Up!'s retired list for 2007.

Punches / Tools

I use clear over the door shoe organizers to hold most of my scrapbooking tools. The clear pockets make it very easy to find everything I need. I actually have 2 over the door organizers on each of my doors to my craft room. I purchased these from Target for $5.99 each!

Ink Storage

For my ink I purchased this wooden storage unit from www.kingdom.com. It is suppose to be for cassette tapes, but my Stampin'Up! ink pads fit perfectly in this unit.

Scissor / Paper Trimmer / Mat Storage

I was looking for a good way to keep all my scissors that I use all the time. I did not like keeping them in a cup because it would always tip over. I use a men's tie and belt rack to hold all my scissors. I have paper scissors, small scissors, material/wireless ribbon scissors, wired scissors, wire scissors, and my rubber/craft scissors.

For my thin paper trimmers and self-healing mats I have a old student chair pocket that I had leftover from when I was a teacher. These work great! I also have one on my chair that I keep my Stampin'Up! Catty close at hand.

Ribbon Storage

I'm addicted to buying ribbon, but the problem is I'm run out of room to store it. I have two ways that I store ribbon. The first is a wooden rack my father built for me (thanks Dad) and the other is the white wire shelves from ClosetMaid #8033. I have four of these white racks creating my Wall of Ribbon. On the bottom rack I have Large Packet Pal (Also from ClosetMaid # 3937) to hold ribbon on cardboard vs. spools. The wire racks was my newest addition to my craft room! I think I'm really going to love it!

Craft Room

It seems that most of my time is spent organizing my craft room instead of actually creating in my craft room. I am an office supply nerd and love to organize! BUT this is it! I'm done....It is time to start crafting, stamping, and scrapbooking. But first I wanted to share with you some pictures of my room and my storage ideas.
